How does a Musical Theater Singer/Actress
become a Marketing Coach/Consultant?

Yup, that's me!  Musical Theater Singer/Actress turned Marketing Expert.  I know, it sounds a bit weird but it's true.  When I was 8 years old I took the stage in a community production and I was instantly addicted.  At that point, I knew I wanted to keep doing theater.  So, when I was all "growed" up, I went to college and got a Bachelor of Music in Education so I could teach and sing.  It was all planned.  I was going to get out of small town Ohio, use my teaching degree to support myself while I worked on landing a starring role on Broadway.  I event told my, then, future husband that he couldn't propose unless he was planning on going to NYC with me.

I worked hard to get my degree, I got married almost two years later and 1.5 years after that, Hubby and I took off for the east coast.  I was determined to make a career in the theater.  I knew I had to do it or I'd regret it.  So, I went, I saw, I did my thing and worked hard for 6 years.  During this time, I was lucky enough to actually make money doing what I loved as well.  I did Children's Theater,  Dinner Theater, Showcases for new musicals, Voiceover work, Background Work for TV/Movies and even got to be on set walking by big famous stars as I did.  It was exhilarating, amazing and exciting.  I was addicted.

Then life happened.

In 2003 my Husband was in a car accident and was on disability for 6 months while he recovered from an injury.  I took a break and stayed home with him.  Then in 2004 the last of my Grandparents back in Ohio passed away and I barely made the funeral (financially and time-wise).  After that a very close family member had a medical emergency and we almost lost her.  Again, I barely made it back to Ohio to be with my family for support.  All of this added up and was weighing heavily on my mind, but I was an Actress.  I had to keep going, or I'd never live my dream.

Then, I had to detox.

In 2005 I woke up one morning and actually started looking at employment opportunities for my husband back in Ohio.  I didn't plan it out, I just found myself doing it.  As luck would have it, that week I was doing an all day event for actors and there was a Life Coach presenting.  By the end of the 1 hour workshop, I knew I had to hire this coach because I didn't know whether I wanted to stay in the biz or leave.  I didn't do any acting while I was working with my coach.  I went through a total detox.  I started to focus on me and what I wanted OUTSIDE of acting.  I had never allowed myself to go there before.

I woke up and fell in love with the coaching industry.

That's when I realized I was living in New Jersey, about 10 blocks from crack house row, commuting by bus/train, taking tap classes with a sore back and barely seeing my Husband while only getting a few hours of sleep many nights of the week.  What?!!!  Was that REALLY what I wanted for myself?  According to the "Experts" I was supposed to go on tour and do summer stock theater if I wanted to make it to Broadway.  Was I willing to be away from my Husband for six months at a time (or more!)?  The answer was no.  Was I willing to keep torturing my body?  Again, No.

It was at this moment in the process that I realized I wasn't living the life I really wanted.  I knew something had to change but had NO IDEA what those changes might be and how I might go about them. Thank God I had a coach! Through the amazing process of coaching I decided to leave my acting career behind.  Then my husband and I moved back home to Ohio and settled in for a new amazing life.

Through the experience of working with my coach, I fell in love with the process of coaching.  I also fell in love with the people who help others change their lives in big ways.  That's when I knew I had to move my career into an industry that included this work .  January 2006, I chose to open my second business (third if you include the fact that I was a business as an Actress).  I was (and still am) committed to helping Coaches, Personal Transformation Professionals, and Independent Women Business Owners in general, get out of overwhelm when it comes to marketing.

Huh!  I've been a techie geek since 1991 and a marketer since 2000.

As I continued to figure out who I was, if not an Actress, I started looking at what other possibilities were out there for me.  It became clear that internet technologies and marketing were two things I had a lot of experience in, without even trying.

While I was in college, my husband and I were 2 hours apart.  We spent a lot of time on the computer.  Internet wasn't a household option at the time but it was cheap communication for college students if we were willing to trek to the computer lab at 1:00am.   Nothing against the IT guys, but they didn't seem able to help much because the technology was so new.  So I learned a lot about fixing e-mail, chat, and internet issues on the fly.  It was always fun too!  For some reason I'm in love with internet technology (but not addicted).

Since college I have been marketing.  While pursuing acting, I marketed myself to agents and managers, I created my own website for my resume and even did some online marketing to get myself in front of the right people.  To make ends meet during that time, my husband and I ran an online retail store back in the early days (when shopping carts were a program you bought in a box at the store).

More learning and growing.

After my experience working with a coach, I knew I had to drink some of that water.  So I went through the CTI (The Coaches Training Institute) core training.  I learned some great skills in that training.  I immediately incorporated coaching skills into the work I did with my clients.  Wow!  That completely changed the types of relationships I had with clients.

Then I suddenly realized I had no idea what I, Kristen Beireis, brought to the table.  I knew I had an expertise that was useful to my clients, their marketing accomplishments were proof of that.  I just didn't know what to call that expertise or how to describe it.  I also knew as a consultant (with a coaching style), I wasn't going to get very far without standing out in the marketing world.  So, I went in search of my differentiation and a new marketing message.  I jumped into a program called the Essential Message.  While I was at it, I chose to get certified so I could help my clients do the same.

After that training, I had all sorts of ideas on what I could do with groups.  In an effort to make sure the group work I did was successful for my clients, I decided to become a Certified Group Coach through Group Coaching Mastery.  This brought me full circle back to my CTI training and took it another level to help me use those skills with more than one person at a time.  It has deepened my own learning and helped me to create more thorough programs that drive results.

It's all about trust!

Through my Essential Message training and exploration, our teacher (Michel Neray) pointed out my fascination with trust.  It was like a world completely opened up to me!  Yes!  That's what I'm all about.  Everything I had ever done (I mean EVERYTHING) in my business could be traced back to helping coaches earn the trust of their potential clients.  Ssssshhh don't tell my clients, but I also sneak in some coaching to help them trust their own skills, knowledge and contribution to their business.

Here I am today.  I'm helping others find that determination and trust in themselves that will make their business grow.  I'm also helping them gain the trust of potential clients so they can reach more people in this world.  It's time personal transformation professionals step up, step out, own their unique talents, and use them to change the world for the greater good.  I believe every individual on this planet should have a professional, like you, working with them.

It is my mission to bring peace to this world through helping others find their own inner peace.
I do that by exposing more people to the possibilities my clients offer and I love it!!

I love my work and I love my life in Ohio where I live far from crack house row in a home I love.  I see my husband more than I ever did as an Actress.  Together we enjoy playing board and card games with friends.  We share time with our families and once a year, have a big BBQ at our house where food, fun and laughter abound.  This is the life I have always dreamed of.  I'm always learning, growing, and I enjoy every minute that I can in life.  Thus my nickname on social networks: Life_Enthusiast!
